Cleaning and Protection Combined for Stainless Steel Surfaces
Weld marks, thermal oxide layers, cutting marks, sandblasting marks, rust, and corrosion residues that form on stainless steel surfaces after welding do not merely create aesthetic issues; they also reduce the surface’s corrosion resistance.
The high temperatures generated during welding can damage the stainless steel’s protective passive layer. Over time, this increases the risk of corrosion on the surface.
Chemsoll offers an effective two-step solution for this process:
METTOXIN P11 – Pickling Product
METTOXIN P11 is designed for use in immersion baths. For standard stainless steel applications, the product is diluted with water at a 1:3 ratio.
The product:
✔ Removes weld marks
✔ Eliminates thermal oxide layers
✔ Eliminates cutting and sandblasting marks
✔ Removes rust and corrosion residues
Thanks to its powerful formula, it removes a thin layer from the surface at the micron level, creating a clean and homogeneous surface.
Why Is Post-Pickling Passivation Necessary?
The pickling process cleans the surface, but afterward, the stainless steel surface may become more susceptible to external influences.
If passivation is not applied:
• Corrosion resistance may decrease
• Free iron residues may remain on the surface
• New rust formations may occur
• The surface’s long-term durability may decrease
For this reason, the post-pickling passivation process is of critical importance.
METTOXIN B-21 – Passivation
Product
METTOXIN B-21;
✔ Removes free iron residues
✔
Removes salts that cause corrosion
✔
Helps the protective passive layer reform
✔
Removes NOX residues formed after pickling
This makes the stainless steel surface more durable and
long-lasting.
Two-Step Application for Maximum
Protection
Pickling = Cleaning
Passivation
= Protection
When used together, they provide maximum performance
on stainless steel surfaces.
